Raising Your Energy Vibration

You know those days …you argue with your child at breakfast, your client cancels last minute, the barista gets your drink order wrong and cops a nasty attitude, you seem to follow every slow driver as you’re late for your meeting, and your computer freezes up on you when you’re on deadline for an important proposal.  You end that long day tired, cranky, feeling sorry for yourself and wondering what TV show, food or beverage will help you numb your mind from the stress.  We’ve all been there.  And then there are those days where everything seems to click, people support you, the universe has your back, and you feel empowered.   Why is that?
 
The flow of your day has a lot to do with your vibration: your overall life force or energy. Everything in the universe is made up of energy vibrating at different frequencies-even solid objects are made up of these energy fields, including you.  This is why you often feel so great after an acupuncture treatment…your energy has shifted to a new frequency and higher vibration!
 
From a scientific and metaphysical perspective, you are made up of different energy levels: physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. Each of these levels has a vibrational frequency- high and low-which combine to create your overall vibration of being.  Lower vibrations are associated with negative thoughts and emotions, poor health and lack of spiritual awareness.  Higher vibrations are associated with empowering thoughts, positive emotions, good health and strong spiritual awareness.
 
With vibrations, like attracts like. The lower your vibration, the more likely you are to attract circumstances and people to you that mirror your vibration.  I know when my own vibration has dropped because all areas of my life are impacted in some way. My energy and health might be poor, I’m at odds with my children, appointment bookings are down, and friends aren’t calling. Not to mention more people tick me off on the road!
 
If your vibration is high, you are more likely to attract those positive, motivating people into your life, you have ample energy, that job promotion you hoped for just landed, opportunities seem to fall in your lap- and you might even have a police officer decide not to write you a speeding ticket!   So how do we raise our vibration and manifest more of the good things we desire in our lives?  It’s actually fairly simple- with practice.  With the stress and chaos of the holiday season now is a perfect time to test these practices and see if they shift your experiences.
 
7 ways to raise your energy vibration
 
1. Become aware of your daily thoughts
Everything you think, say or feel becomes your reality. Your mind is truly your own worst enemy and if, for example, you find yourself thinking people are your adversaries, they probably will be.  As Einstein said, the most important decision we make is whether we believe we live in a friendly or hostile universe.

2. Meditate for 10 minutes (or longer) first thing in the morning
Sit in a comfortable position, close your eyes, focus on your breath, and visualize exactly how you want your day to unfold. Too often we start our day and race through it with a scattered brain leaving us in a state of anxiety, stress and lower vibration. Even 10 minutes of meditation a day can shift your energy and experiences.
 
3. Talk to your grateful heart
Making a gratitude list shifts your vibration by focusing on what is already positive and abundant in your life.  The dividends are in the details when you write down what you appreciate.  For example, this morning I wrote how grateful I am to have a beautiful backyard that has a big tree with a swing and I can watch my daughters enjoy the outdoors from my kitchen window.
 
4. Look for beauty in the everyday
Beauty is all around us, even in the ordinary.  Stop rushing for a moment and take the time to stand outside, take a deep breath and appreciate something new in your surroundings. Nature has an inherent high vibration.
 
5. You are what you eat - and drink
Some foods vibrate at high frequencies and some lower (broccoli has a high vibration as do blueberries; Big Macs don't vibrate at all!). If you are consuming foods containing chemicals and pesticides or pre-packaged foods, you will vibrate lower.  Notice how you different you feel when you eat home-cooked, high quality organic food and drink clean, filtered water throughout the day. 
 
6. Service to others
Giving to someone else (without expecting anything in return) shifts your thinking from “I don’t have enough" to "I have more than enough to give to others.” Abundance is a high vibration. Similarly, being kind to others puts you at a high vibration. Gossip or treat others poorly and your vibration will lower.
 
7. Get moving - dance!
Vibration requires movement- the more you move the more rapidly your vibrations shift. Dancing is a fun, joyful way to move your body and raise your energy vibration.  You don’t need a partner - just turn on your favorite music and dance and sing in your kitchen when nobody's watching. Whenever I feel the vibration go down in my house I crank some fun tunes and have a dance party with my daughters.
